Iraq littered with high levels of nuclear and dioxin contamination, study finds

Posted on 23 January 2010 by PersianPaladin

More than 40 sites across Iraq are contaminated with high levels or radiation and dioxins, with three decades of war and neglect having left environmental ruin in large parts of the country, an official Iraqi study has found.

Areas in and near Iraq’s largest towns and cities, including Najaf, Basra and Falluja, account for around 25% of the contaminated sites, which appear to coincide with communities that have seen increased rates of cancer and birth defects over the past five years. The joint study by the environment, health and science ministries found that scrap metal yards in and around Baghdad and Basra contain high levels of ionising radiation, which is thought to be a legacy of depleted uranium used in munitions during the first Gulf war and since the 2003 invasion.

The environment minister, Narmin Othman, said high levels of dioxins on agricultural lands in southern Iraq, in particular, were increasingly thought to be a key factor in a general decline in the health of people living in the poorest parts of the country.

IraqToxic Toxic zones in Iraq”If we look at Basra, there are some heavily polluted areas there and there are many factors contributing to it,” she told the Guardian. “First, it has been a battlefield for two wars, the Gulf war and the Iran-Iraq war, where many kinds of bombs were used. Also, oil pipelines were bombed and most of the contamination settled in and around Basra.

“The soil has ended up in people’s lungs and has been on food that people have eaten. Dioxins have been very high in those areas. All of this has caused systemic problems on a very large scale for both ecology and overall health.”

Government study groups have recently focused on the war-ravaged city of Falluja, west of Baghdad, where the unstable security situation had kept scientists away ever since fierce fighting between militants and US forces in 2004.

“We have only found one area so far in Falluja,” Othman said. “But there are other areas that we will try to explore soon with international help.”

The Guardian reported in November claims by local doctors of a massive rise in birth defects in the city, particularly neural tube defects, which afflict the spinal cords and brains of newborns. “We are aware of the reports, but we must be cautious in reaching conclusions about causes,” Othman said. “The general health of the city is not good. There is no sewerage system there and there is a lot of stagnant household waste, creating sickness that is directly affecting genetics. We do know, however, that a lot of depleted uranium was used there.

“We have been regulating and monitoring this and we have been urgently trying to assemble a database. We have had co-operation from the United Nations environment programme and have given our reports in Geneva. We have studied 500 sites for chemicals and depleted uranium. Until now we have found 42 places that have been declared as [high risk] both from uranium and toxins.”

Ten of those areas have been classified by Iraq’s nuclear decommissioning body as having high levels of radiation. They include the sites of three former nuclear reactors at the Tuwaitha facility – once the pride of Saddam Hussein’s regime on the south-eastern outskirts of Baghdad – as well as former research centres around the capital that were either bombed or dismantled between the two Gulf wars.

The head of the decommissioning body, Adnan Jarjies, said that when inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency arrived to “visit these sites, I tell them that even if we have all the best science in the world to help us, none of them could be considered to be clean before 2020.”

Bushra Ali Ahmed, director of the Radiation Protection Centre in Baghdad, said only 80% of Iraq had so far been surveyed. “We have focused so far on the sites that have been contaminated by the wars,” he said. “We have further plans to swab sites that have been destroyed by war.

“A big problem for us is when say a tank has been destroyed and then moved, we are finding a clear radiation trail. It takes a while to decontaminate these sites.”

Scrap sites remain a prime concern. Wastelands of rusting cars and war damage dot Baghdad and other cities between the capital and Basra, offering unchecked access to both children and scavengers.

Othman said Iraq’s environmental degradation is being intensified by an acute drought and water shortage across the country that has seen a 70% decrease in the volume of water flowing through the Euphrates and Tigris rivers.

“We can no longer in good conscience call ourselves the land between the rivers,” she said. “A lot of the water we are getting has first been used by Turkey and Syria for power generation. When it reaches us it is poor quality. That water which is used for agriculture is often contaminated. We are in the midst of an unmatched environmental disaster.”

Report: Biomethane Could Replace All EU Natural Gas Imports

Posted on 09 January 2010 by PersianPaladin

This is from 2008, but I think it warrants more attention.

January 10, 2008

Last year, the German Greens Party commissioned a report on the potential of biogas in Europe. The Öko-Instituts and the Institut für Energetik in Leipzig carried out a study on the potential of biomethane in Europe.  The study came to the startling conclusion that, if current production trends continue, all of Europe’s natural gas imports from Russia could be covered by locally produced biogas/biomethane within 20 years. Earlier, Ulrich Schmack, an energy advisor to the German government and manager of the world’s largest biogas firm, came to the same conclusion, even though his projection created some controversy.

The biogas/biomethane sector is booming in Germany, and has become the
continent’s fastest renewable energy sector. For example, market leader
Schmack Biogas recently received a $192 million investment to expand
its activities, which is one of last year’s largest renewable energy
deals.  The growing interest in the gaseous biofuel can be explained by
the fact that: (1) biomethane production can be decentralized
(producing the fuel closer to its end use); (2)  it is highly efficient
(yielding more than twice as much energy per area of energy crops than
ethanol from similar crops); (3) it can be obtained relatively easily
from a large variety of biomass resources (e.g., organic waste, manure,
dedicated energy crops); and (4) advances in biogas technology,
microbiology and crop engineering have made (and continue to make)
production even more efficient.

The EU currently imports some 40 percent of all its natural gas from
Russia. In 2030, this dependency will have increased to 60 percent (all
else equal). This outlook worries many, as it opens obvious questions
about energy security. Last year, gas disputes between Russia and
Belarus and the Ukraine, affected energy supplies to the EU. The
Leipzig report on biogas, entitled “Möglichkeiten einer europäischen
Biogaseinspeisungsstrategie” (“The opportunities of a European strategy
to feed biogas into the natural gas grid”) puts this geopolitical
question into an entirely different perspective.

The main findings of the study are:

•    Europe’s potential for the sustainable production of biomethane is
17.7 trillion cubic feet per year. This is roughly the total amount of
natural gas currently consumed by the entire European Union.

•    All EU’s natural gas needs for the medium-term future (2020) can
be met by biogas/biomethane.  All imports from Russia could be
replaced, while the excess can back out petroleum and coal.

•    The production of 17.7 Tcf of biomethane, fed into the grid, will
result in a reduction of 15 percent of Europe’s CO2 emissions. The
Kyoto protocol demands a reduction of 10%.

•    An efficient biomethane-feed-in strategy could be built around the
concept of “biogas corridors.”  Such corridors would consist of biomass
plantations established alongside the pipelines, so that the green gas
can be fed into Europe’s main natural gas grid without the need for new
pipelines and infrastructures.

•    A Europe-wide biomethane-feed-in strategy will result in the
creation of 2.7 million new jobs within the EU. Employment will be
generated mainly in agriculture and in the manufacture, construction
and management of biogas plants and biogas purification plants.

A major roadblock standing in the way of moving to a biomethane economy
for Germany is the fact that biomethane is too good for the country’s
natural gas pipeline system, i.e., its heating value exceeds the
Germany’s upper quality limit on gas (the only country in Europe to
have this restriction). The German Green Party and the country’s
environmentalists and farmers, therefore, are lobbying for a new law
that would allow producers to feed their superior, renewable and green
gas into the national pipelines.  The German government has now taken
the first steps towards crafting a ‘biogas feed-in law’ that would
allow pipeline operators to open their network for biomethane.

Global Government Treaty flops at Copenhagen Summit

Posted on 18 December 2009 by admin

President Obama will be attending the Copenhagen UN climate change conference on December 18 where he will be an active participant “as [in the words of 'The White House Blog' for Dec. 10] the global community, with the United States in a leading role, works towards securing the strongest possible outcome in Copenhagen.”

For more information about the Copenhagen UN Climate Change Conference see the numerous, recent, excellent articles on JBS.org and TheNewAmerican.com. For example, “Climategate, ‘Scientific Fascism,’ and Copenhagen” by James Heiser was posted on JBS.org today. And, “Lord Monckton, the Copenhagen Treaty, and the Constitution” by William F. Jasper was posted on TheNewAmerican.com yesterday.

‘Skeptic’ Climate Conference Challenges UN

Posted on 14 December 2009 by admin

As global-warming alarmists met at the United Nations’ COP15 Climate Summit, attempting to create the impression that the science supporting their alarmism was settled, a group of scientists and activists held acompeting summit in Copenhagen last week to dismiss the whole notion that there is a scientific consenses or that the world is facing a man-made global-warmng crisis.

The “skeptics” conference, as it was dubbed by the relatively few media outlets that covered the event, brought together prominent scientists from around the globe. The “Copenhagen Climate Challenge Conference” — which included between 50 and 75 participants — was organized by the Danish organization Climate Sense and the U.S.-based Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT).

“There are people who know they are lying and do it simply for money and others who think they are doing good,” explained Graham Capper of Climate Sense. “But they are not good scientists.” He also called global warming a “myth.”

Craig Rucker, the executive director of CFACT and the conference chairman, also blasted the alarmism. “We think there is no consensus on climate change and there should not be a treaty from Copenhagen based on a lack of consensus,” he said, adding that the world should have the courage to “do nothing until the science is clear.”

Among the speakers who received the most attention was Professor Niklas Nils-Axel Mörner, a prominent scientist and oceanographer who works at Stockholm University and researches sea levels. He chastised the president of the Maldives for claiming that the island nation would soon disappear. According to Mörner, who has studied the Maldives extensively, “we must rely on the facts, and the facts don’t support the president.”

He noted that some of the “very weird” climate models claim Bangladesh could be flooded by up to several meters of sea rise. But this scenario is “not even within the laws of physics,” he said, adding that it was “completely nonsense.” The professor has studied both areas’ sea levels extensively.

Mörner said various groups were using theories about global warming as an excuse to scam money out of the international community, and that these same interests simply claim nothing can be done about actual environmental problems affecting their nations that they actually could and should work on solving. “We are the real environmentalists,” he said.

Other prominent scientists also offered expertise in their fields. Danish National Space Center physicist Henrik Svensmark explained that the world went through a similar cycle during the Middle Ages, and that the true cause was in fact the Sun. Fred Singer, president of the Science & Environmental Policy Project and also an atmospheric physicist who has participated in several UN climate summits, put it bluntly: “They have no evidence. None.”

Lord Monckton, who has grabbed headlines worldwide with his passionate opposition to the UN “climate” agenda, also attended the meeting. Geologists, authors, nobility, and even a former clergyman who has taken an interest in climate science all took part in the event and offered a diverse array of opinions. But on some points the alternative climate conference was unanimous: The nearby UN summit and its agenda are based on inaccurate science and their agenda must be stopped for the good of humanity.

Nearly every media report about the event noted that ExxonMobil had provided some funding for the group. What most of those articles did not mention is that the oil industry — and especially the Rockefeller family — have bankrolled countless global-warming alarmists and events, such as the so-called “350” global warming protest that took place in late October.

It is certainly refreshing to hear a group of scientists challenge the UN global-warming agenda in Copenhagen on the occasion of the COP15 Summit. With the revelations from Climategate fresh in the public’s mind, this event should have received far more coverage. Of course, the skeptics do not have national treasuries at their disposal to put on shows like the UN Climate Summit. But what is clear is that the science is far from settled. Anyone who claims otherwise is either uninformed or a liar.

An Urban Gardener Feeds a Community

Posted on 12 December 2009 by PersianPaladin

Bird Life, Commercial Farm Projects, Community Projects, Consumerism, Eco-Villages, Food Shortages, Markets & Outlets, People Systems, Society, Urban Projects, Village Development

by Sarah Gorman December 10, 2009

Bronwyn’s urban backyard is teeming with diversity. It is providing local families with nutritious food through her Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), but she doesn’t think she is doing anything exceptional. Students from Mulloon Creek Natural Farm’s Permaculture Design Certificate course recently visited Bronwyn Richards’ home in Braidwood, NSW, Australia. They learnt how an urban gardener manages to provide a constant supply of organic vegetables not only for her own family, but five others.

Bronwyn’s bountiful garden doesn’t stop at the boundary of her house block. In true spirit of community and fair share, friendly neighbours have gladly let her use area that they don’t use, allowing Bronwyn to garden over an acre. So the hothouse can be found in the next door neighbour’s backyard this year and the turkeys forage under a neighbour’s old orchard.

As a passionate, down to earth, organic gardener, she has combined different methods, such as biodynamics and permaculture principles. The options she chooses suit her needs. For example, commercial day old ducklings and chicks are bought and raised free range for meat by hens that are “good mothers”. And the good mothers continue providing nutritious eggs.

Ducks, chickens and turkeys happily roam around the garden and the sheep (and sometimes, pigs) are kept amused down the back. Extra potatoes have been sown to give the next round of pigs something interesting to do while rooting around. In between the poultry and four legged creatures are the garden beds, regularly rotated with a diverse array of vegetables. Bronwyn’s philosophy is that if the animals and vegetables are happy and healthy, then when consumed by us, that essence is passed on.

Jerusalem Artichokes

The CSA model allows a close and flexible relationship with customers. Each week she emails them with a list of seasonal produce and the customers put in their orders. First in, first served. When there is an abundance of one vegetable, it is included in all the customer’s boxes. Sometimes customers are given something new for tasting. They can also ask Bronwyn to grow certain vegetables. As a grower, she finds it’s fantastic to have a consistent customer base. As Bronwyn is the gardener, she is at the natural limit of households she can provide for.

Bronwyn would encourage all of us to get in the garden and “just give it a go”.

Scientists Petition on Both Sides of Global Warming Debate

Posted on 11 December 2009 by admin

In the wake of the “Climategate” revelations and accusations from members of the U.S. Congress that scientists allegedly implicated in efforts to suppress studies undermining the theory of manmade climate change were engaged in “scientific fascism,” the inevitable push back has begun.

The 31,000 American scientists who have signed the petition opposing the Kyoto agreement all agree that:

There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gasses is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.

For some reason their skepticism regarding anthropogenic global warming doesn’t get much attention from the media. Go figure.

Now 1,700 British scientists have signed a petition in support of the troubled theory, and it’s a safe bet that they will have a much easier time getting the ear of the press.

According to The Times of London,

The Met Office has embarked on an urgent exercise to bolster the reputation of climate-change science after the furore over stolen e-mails.

More than 1,700 scientists have agreed to sign a statement defending the “professional integrity” of global warming research. They were responding to a round-robin request from the Met Office, which has spent four days collecting signatures. The initiative is a sign of how worried it is that e-mails stolen from the University of East Anglia are fuelling scepticism about man-made global warming at a critical moment in talks on carbon emissions.

One scientist said that he felt under pressure to sign the circular or risk losing work. The Met Office admitted that many of the signatories did not work on climate change.

John Hirst, the Met Office chief executive, and Julia Slingo, its chief scientist, wrote to 70 colleagues on Sunday asking them to sign “to defend our profession against this unprecedented attack to discredit us and the science of climate change”. They asked them to forward the petition to colleagues to generate support “for a simple statement that we . . . have the utmost confidence in the science base that underpins the evidence for global warming”.

But despite protestations of spontaneity, there are apparently some scientists who felt they were pressured to sign.

One scientist told The Times he felt under pressure to sign. “The Met Office is a major employer of scientists and has long had a policy of only appointing and working with those who subscribe to their views on man-made global warming,” he said.

Professor Slingo denied that the Met Office had put anyone under pressure. “The response has been absolutely spontaneous. As a scientist you sign things you agree with, not because you are worried about what the Met Office might think of you,” she said.

Peer pressure is a very powerful thing in almost any area of human activity, and certainly resisting peer pressure in the sciences raises fears — whether justified or not — when it comes time to procure future research grants. It will be interesting to see whether or not other scientists will come forward in the near future claiming that they also felt pressured to sign. However, regardless of the issues of spontaneity and peer pressure, The Times highlights the fact that the signatories represent but a fraction of British scientists.

With the Copenhagen conference in full swing, and the theory which is the ideological justification for the entire meeting now facing widespread public and scientific ridicule, the urge among supporters of the theory to rally their supporters is understandable, but needs to be kept in perspective.

What the public needs is to confront statements which begin “According to scientists…” with a healthy measure of skepticism. The debate surrounding global warming is so contentious because of the highly theoretical nature of the models which are utilized by proponents of manmade climate change. The “Climategate” revelations are the sort of thing which causes many within the scientific community to become alarmed precisely because the allegation is that the credibility of the scientists at the very heart of creating the global warming theory has been fundamentally compromised.

Scientific truth cannot be established by polls; what is needed is data and independent verification of the assertions made by the advocates of the theory. But with much of the original data destroyed, locked behind “confidentiality” agreements, or challenged because of the manner in which it was collected, manmade climate change is farther away from being seen as “settled science” today than it was six months ago, and the extreme actions being contemplated by the Copenhagen conference are less justifiable than ever before.

Group promoting climate skepticism has extensive ties to Exxon-Mobil

By Sahil Kapur
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

earthblueflamewarmingclimate Group promoting climate skepticism has extensive ties to Exxon Mobil

A group promoting skepticism over widely-accredited climate change science has a web of connections to influential oil giant Exxon-Mobil, Raw Story has found.

The organization is called the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change (NIPCC), apparently named after the UN coalition International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). An investigation into the group reveals its numerous links to Exxon-Mobil, a vehement opponent of climate legislation and notorious among scientists for funding global warming skeptics.

“Exxon-Mobil essentially funds people to lie,” Joseph Romm, lauded climate expert and author of the blog Climate Progress, told Raw Story. “It’s important for people to understand that they pay off the overwhelming majority of groups in the area of junk science.”

The NIPCC’s signature report, “Climate Change Reconsidered,” disputes the notion that global warming is human-caused, insisting in its policy summary that “Nature, not human activity, rules the planet.” Many of its assertions have been challenged by, among others, the scientists’ blog RealClimate.

The report was released and promoted this summer by the Heartland Institute, a think tank that claims to support “common-sense environmentalism” as opposed to “more extreme environmental activism.” It alleges that “Global warming is a prime example of the alarmism that characterizes much of the environmental movement.”

“To call global warming a hoax is to question every scientific journal, every scientific academy, and buy into the most extreme conspiracy theories,” Romm said.

Heartland has received at least $676,500 from Exxon-Mobil since 1998, the year Exxon launched a campaign to oppose the Kyoto Treaty, according to official documents of the two groups that have been compiled and reproduced by the website ExxonSecrets.org. Also, the institute’s self-described Government Relations Adviser Walter F. Buchholtz has been a lobbyist for Exxon-Mobil, the Washington Post reported in 2004.

The study’s two principal authors and NIPCC leaders S Fred Singer and Craig D Idso are both associated with various organizations that have gotten generous funding from Exxon-Mobil.

Singer has researched and published for the Cato Institute, which has accepted $125,000 in grants from Exxon-Mobil since 1998. Other professional affiliations include the National Center for Policy Analysis, Frontiers of Freedom, and American Council on Science and Health — which have accepted contributions of $540,000, $1.27 million and $150,000, respectively, from Exxon.

Although some praise him as a hero, Singer has been slammed by many fellow climate scientists as “a fraud, a charlatan and a showman” for his unorthodox views and research.

His co-author Idso is founder, board chairman and former president of the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change, whose mission statement is to “separate reality from rhetoric in the emotionally-charged debate that swirls around the subject of carbon dioxide and global change.” The organization has taken $100,000 in funding from Exxon since 1998, according to the oil company’s reports.

Idso is also affiliated with the George Marshall Institute, which has reportedly won $840,000 from Exxon.

Exxon-Mobil has spent more money lobbying Congress in the last two years than any enterprise other than the Chamber of Commerce, dishing out $29 million in 2008 and over $20 million so far in 2009 to legislators. It’s among the top 10 biggest spenders of lobbying cash since 1998, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

“Exxon has waged certainly the biggest, most concerted, and most extreme disinformation campaign on this issue,” Romm told Raw Story. “The trouble is they don’t have to win the argument — all they have to do is blow smoke and cast doubt, and they’ve accomplished their end.”

In a recent incident, hackers exposed private emails exchanged between climate scientists. Some said the revealed information didn’t add up to a conspiracy, while others declared it definitive proof that anthropogenic global warming is made-up.

The Senate will soon take up the mantle on climate bill that the House narrowly passed this summer, and a heated debate is likely to occur in Congress over the nature of the threat and the type of action that needs to be taken.

“I think we’re going to pass it, but it’s going to be an epic struggle,” Romm said.

Republican Sen. Orrin Harch has referenced the NIPCC report, calling it a “Comprehensive scientific answer to the IPCC [sic] Reports.” Various blogs, such the conservative Free Republic, have touted this report as evidence that “global warming is not a crisis, and never was.”

Congress Launches Climategate Investigation

Climategate: E-mail Scandal Could Melt Copenhagen Plans

IPCC Researchers Admit Global Warming Fraud

Global warming alarmists are scrambling to save face after hackers stole hundreds of incriminating e-mails from a British university and published them on the Internet.

The messages were pirated from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia (UEA) and reveal correspondence between British and American researchers engaged in fraudulent reporting of data to favor their own climate change agenda. UEA officials confirmed one of their servers was hacked, and several of the scientists involved admitted the authenticity of the messages, according to the New York Times. The article opined, “The evidence pointing to a growing human contribution to global warming is so widely accepted that the hacked material is unlikely to erode the overall argument.”

Climatologist Patrick J. Michaels challenged that position. “This is not a smoking gun, this is a mushroom cloud.” The e-mails implicate scores of researchers, most of whom are associated with the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an organization many skeptics believe was created exclusively to provide evidence of anthropogenic global warming (AGW).

Among the IPCC elite embarrassingly, if not criminally, compromised is Phillip D. Jones, a Ph.D. climatologist at the University of East Anglia whose work figured prominently in the IPCC Third Assessment Report of 2001. Jones also contributed significantly to the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report in 2007 (AR4), but he failed to follow through when skeptical investigators asked to review raw data associated with that report. They announced intent to use UK Freedom of Information laws to obtain the data, so Jones sent the following e-mail to one of his collaborators: “Mike, Can you delete any e-mails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise…. Can you also e-mail Gene and get him to do the same?… Will be getting Caspar to do likewise.” The Mike in this message is Michael Mann, professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University, whose influential “hockey stick” graph warning of pending global warming eco-catastrophe was found by a congressional investigation to be fraudulent. In another correspondence about AR4 labeled HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL, Jones contacted Mann regarding research critical of their global warming platform. “I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report,” wrote Jones. “Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!”

Mann received another incriminating e-mail from Dr. Kevin Trenberth, a New Zealander now with the University of Colorado and Head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. “The fact is we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.” An incredulous Trenberth simply blamed “our [inadequate] observing system.” Yet he and his colleagues are now dodging the “Climategate” bullet, indignant that global warming skeptics are supposedly taking their comments out of context. One wonders if they might be referring to a message from Jones who wrote about a statistical “trick” he used to “hide” data. Or perhaps they mean Mann’s reference to climate change skeptics as “idiots.”

Now that AGW is revealed as a farce, will big-spending politicians in the U.S. Senate halt efforts to impose a cap-and-trade system to ostensibly combat greenhouse gases and global warming? Of course not. Cap and trade is about raising taxes and increasing government control over our entire economy. Our socialist politicians in Washington will never stop pushing this issue, even if global-warming alarmism is disproven to the point that Hell really does freeze over.

Will widespread and irrefutable knowledge of scientific fraud silence the socialist promoters of a new United Nations Climate Change protocol? Nonsense. In the name of saving the planet, the UN Copenhagen Treaty they intend to impose on the world would help to shackle it. Specifically, their “green” agenda would impose international controls, diminish the industrial might and living standards of developed nations, and transfer wealth from rich countries to poorer ones in an emerging world government. Internationalists and socialists will not back away from their long-sought-after global designs simply because the “science” supporting runaway global warming is shown to be flawed. No doubt they will continue to demand retributions for climate debt from the United States and the largely agreeable EU, despite Trenberth’s observed “lack of warming.”

The good thing is that even more than in the past, these false scientists and their alarmism will be countered with their own words. Even now reliable researchers are compiling the information in apublication that should shake our nation — and maybe even a few Democratic politicians.

Hacked climate emails include calls for ‘Earth Government’ as foundation of new world order, splitting of America

RELATED: CLIMATE BOMBSHELL: Hacker leaks thousands of emails showing conspiracy to “hide” the real data on manmade climate change

One of the leaked climate emails was apparently a press release from “Earth Government” Newsletter dated 27 Mar 2003. The document calls for a ‘democratic’ world government that would amalgamate and reform the prevailing global institutions including the United Nations, IMF, World Bank WTO, NAFTA, FTAA and others “for the good of all.”

It further refers to an “Earth Court of Justice to deal with all aspects of the Governance and Management of the Earth.” The document also makes mention of the “Foundation for the new world order, Earth Government” and “The splitting of America into separate independent states living at peace for the good of all.” Is this a revelation of the true intentions of certain environmental advocates, or just one of many emails in the background of calls to “hide the decline” of global temperatures (despite intense claims of global warming).

It is eerily similar to newly named EU President Herman Von Rompuy’s calls for Copenhagen to establish “global management” of the planet and Queen Elizabeth’s recent declaration during her throne speech at the opening of Parliament that “My government will seek effective global and European collaboration through the G20 and the European Union to sustain economic recovery and to combat climate change, including at the Copenhagen summit next month.”

Climategate: The Phil Jones University could break into children’s television, big time

Damian’s revelation that Futerra has gone so far as to train even CBeebies researchers in “green” communication may offer a lifeline to embarrassed academics at the beleaguered “University” of East Anglia. The ever-helpful BBC might be able to channel them towards a less challenging audience than those brutal sceptics who are holding the Phil Jones University up to so much painful ridicule. Might there not be very promising alternative careers for Phil Jones and Michael Mann if a happy collaboration between CBeebies and, say, Blue Peter could be devised?

“And now children, here are Phil and Michael to show you how to make your own global warming statistics at home.”

“Hello, children, I’m Phil. Can anyone tell me what Michael is holding? Yes. It’s a hockey stick. Does anybody know what that is for? No, Timothy, it is not to beat the crap out of nasty sceptic Pat Michaels, though that is a very good thing to do. It is to save the world. No, Prunella, Mr Brown did not do that last month, he was only speaking metaphorically. Michael…”

“Right, children. Now, watch what Phil is doing. That thing with steam coming out of it is called a computer. What do you think Phil is putting into it? It’s called data. There we go… lots and lots of lovely codes and nice warm data… Oh, look! Phil is frowning. Something isn’t quite right… So, children, now Phil is feeding in his lucky number… and his doggie’s birthday… and his social security number. It’s getting warmer, that’s good. Now he’s adding in the number he first thought of and – wow! It’s getting really hot. Look at all that smoke coming from the computer – don’t try this at home. I’ll just print off that graph and let you see the pretty picture.”

“Hi, kids, now I’ve finished working with the computer, let’s see what Michael is holding. It’s a graph, showing how hot the world is getting because of motor cars and American Republicans and horrid people called Deniers – Oh, look, Michael is holding his graph upside down. No, he’s not being silly, he’s being responsible. Because, you see, although the words are upside down, the lines are pointing upwards, which is what matters. And when we send it to our colleagues in New Zealand, who are becoming almost as famous as we are, the words will be the right way up, because it’s an upside-down country…”

“Thanks, Phil. That was good. Now, kids, if you’ll watch very carefully, Phil will show you how to fill in a very useful piece of paper called a grant application form. You can send that to some very nice people in America – they’re like Father Christmas, but all the year round, and they give out lots of lovely money that people all over America pay them. Phil…”

“And what do we do now, children? Just like tidying away your toys at home before bedtime? We wipe the computer clean, in case burglars try to break into it and let people see what we’ve been doing. After all, it’s none of their business!”
